Not all coming of age movies have to be about an unlikely band of children in detention or discovering a body, sometimes they are painful stories about the world war. That is exactly what Testament of Youth is. The movie that comes under the umbrella of BBC films and Heyday films is set to be released on January second of 2015. It promises to bring that crisp touch that all British movies bring to the movie year 2015. The movie is directed by James Kent and produced by Rosie Alison and David Heyman who has been the producer on a number of notable films including the Harry Potter film and Gravity.

The movie is based on the book by the same name which is the memoir of Vera Britain. It is the first installment of a trilogy which was never really finished due to the author's death. Vera is said to have tried writing a novel and then releasing the memoir with the names changed but neither of these techniques worked, at which point she decided to release the book as is. The book follows Vera's life between the years 1900 and 1925. During which the war raged and she had to drop out of school and take up a nursing job. She loses a brother and other members of her social club to the war. The movie shall no doubt bring that beautiful innocence that only English movies can bring and is quite reminiscent of the move Atonement.

Swedish actress Alicia Vikander shall be playing the part of Vera Bittain. ,miss Vikander has featured in movies like Anna Karenina and The Fifth Estate. BBC'S choice of a sweedish actress to play an English role does bring a lot of questions to the fore but she is an outstanding actress and we are in no doubt that an accent change shall be a small issue to her. She will be acting alongside Kit Harington, Taron Egerton, Colin Morgan , Emily Watson and Anna Chancellor.
