Phillip Hughes Resigns From The Anchormen

Anchormen

Gospel music group The Anchormen have announced that their lead vocalist Phillip Hughes is resigning from the quartet. During his 4 year tenure, Hughes enjoyed many international travels as well as becoming regulars on TBN's "Praise The Lord" television network which led to performances at the Grand Ole Opry as well as other exciting venues.

After leaving the ANCHORMEN in 2001, he later joined the Kingsmen Quartet for 6 years then onto the Harvesters Quartet before returning to the ANCHORMEN In 2015. During his time off, you can usually find Phillip coaching ball or spending time with his wife Starla and kids Ross and Ryan.

Anchormen owner Tim Bullins states, "We have accepted Phillip's resignation and are disappointed when any member of our group has to leave. However, with the recommendation of  his physicians, Phillip feels this would be a better way to care for his health being a diabetic."

Bullins also states, "As a diabetic myself I totally understand his position.  He and I have had numerous conversations about the lifestyle that comes with living on the road and trying to balance all of that with the health conditions. Under the circumstances we know this is a decision that had to be made.

"Phillip has been a vital part of The Anchormen through the years with his two different stints with the group. We certainly wish him, his wife Starla, and their children  Ross and Ryan God's abundant blessings."

Formed in 1979, the ANCHORMEN have become one of the premier quartets in Christian Music. With over three decades in ministry they continue a rich heritage of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ delivered by very talented and spirit filled gentlemen. "We began singing in three or four states for the first five years of our ministry. In 1985, we were able to travel on a full-time scale. Even through personal changes and trials along the way God has kept his hand on the ministry of The Anchormen", says longtime baritone vocalist and co-founder, Terry Carter.

Many great vocalists have taken the stage as members of this fine group including: Benny Blackburn, Steve Ladd, Tony Jarman, David Sutton, Biney English, Dale Forbes, David Hill, Jody Medford, Jeff Chapman, Aaron McCune, David Hester, and Paul Harkey. Each member brought a different dynamic to the group and helped to make this group what it is today.

Their repertoire includes classics The Anchormen have introduced to Christian music such as, "Come To The Fountain," and "I've Been Touched", "I Feel Like Running", "Come On In", and their mega hit "Giver of Life" which reached and held the number one spot on radio charts across the country! While the ANCHORMEN have consistently produced several top charting hits over the years, the legacy they we're founded upon remains their guiding principle and their #1 mission-seeing lives changed. This purpose driven devotion continues today and results in inspiring excitement the ANCHORMEN are best known for.
