Apples First Ever Smartwatch, iTime: Apple Is Granted USPTO Patent For iTime Which Is Rumored To Have Several Features Including A Media Player
Apple has finally been granted a patent for their rumored smart watch the iWatch. It is still not clear why Apple have decided to patent this new smart watch, what is clear though is that we will be seeing a new name which might be the official name as written right on one of the designs that will be called the iTime. This is not the first time iPhone has been granted patent by the US Patent Office. They have been able to get this favor before in the past and so we can only wonder how this time the Patent will affect this new product and also other smart watches in the market.
Now when it comes to the Patent itself it is actually for a number of different designs with the first design being expected from what a smart watch offers. This is from features that include an all in one electronic square that is complete with a touchscreen and all internal circuitry that include dedicated GPS, NFC, proximity, biometric and a whole suite of other sensors. These other features are sure to keep the device lasting more than a day in just one single charge.
The second design is actually the band which is also patented. The band features a number of integrated circuitry that a square device would fit into. Now we are not sure if this is specifically going to be a watch like strap for a next generation iPod Nano, this still remains to be seen. However, the fact that both designs are patented makes this whole situation very interesting.
The million dollar question remains on why Apple would want to patent a watch with these features, one can't help but wonder if there is more that meets the eye. We also can't help but wonder how this patent will affect other smart watches in the market like the Android wear that was only recently launched by Google a few week ago.
The iTime is meant to be announced in the next few months. We can only wait and see how this whole situation plays out and how it will affect the market.
