When it comes to Dracula Untold, Bram Stoker would be squirming in his grave as a new adaptation of his famous 1897 novel would be hitting the big screen this coming October 17, 2014.
In Dracula Untold, the focus will be on Vlad who is left with decisions to sacrifice many that he cared for just to project his family and kingdom from the Ottoman Empire. Left with no choice, the young prince makes a contract with a malevolent spirit found in the mountain where he was then turned into a vampire. With the transformation, he was blessed with supernatural abilities including flight, teleportation, invisibility, and, of course, the ability to turn himself into a thousand bats.
Entitled as "Dracula Untold", the film is directed by Gary Shore with a screenplay by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless and revolves around the story of Prince Vlad III Tepes, played by Luke Evans (known for his roles in The Hobbit, The Three Musketeers and Fast & Furious 6), who will be later on known to many as Vlad the Impaler or simply as Dracula. And yes, a certain Van Helsen will be there as well.
Initially, this film was titled as Dracula Year Zero instead of Dracula Untold. Joining Evans would be Sarah Gadon (Mirena, the wife of Prince Vlad), Art Parkinson (Ingeras, Vlad's son), Dominic Cooper (Sultan Mehmed), Samantha Barks (the Baba Yaga) and Charles Dance. They will also be joined by the likes of Charlie Cox, Joseph Long, Zach McGowan, Thor Kristjansson, Dilan Gwyn, Diarmaid Murtagh, Noah Huntley, Ferdinand Kingsley, Ronan Vibert and Will Huston.
