Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and longtime Journey keyboardist Jonathan Cain is preparing to go "separate ways" from the legendary band as he faithfully answers what he describes as God's call on his life. As he embarks on Journey's 60-city Final Frontier Tour 2026, Cain has released his powerful new Christian music EP, Only A Prayer Away, available now from The Fuel Music at https://slinky.to/OnlyAPrayerAway.
The six-song project, Cain's first new solo release in nearly four years, reflects faith in action. Inspired by disaster relief efforts in Chimney Rock, NC following Hurricane Helene, global peace discussions in Seoul, South Korea, and the National Day of Prayer in Washington, DC, each track carries Cain's signature piano style woven with worship and testimony.
The EP includes the title track "Only A Prayer Away," inspired by pastor Greg Laurie's proclamation that God is near to those who call on Him, along with "Amen To The Rescue," written after Cain witnessed volunteers rebuilding lives in flood-ravaged North Carolina. Other tracks include "Imagine Peace," "All First," "Bread of Life," and "I Will Praise You Home."
Produced by Cain and mixed by David Kalmusky at Addiction Sound Studios in Nashville, the project signals a new chapter for the Chicago native. After decades performing for arena audiences worldwide, Cain plans to transition into full-time ministry alongside his wife, Paula White-Cain, serving at City Of Destiny in Apopka, Florida.
While Journey's farewell tour continues through July 2 in Laredo, TX, Cain is embracing a future rooted in worship, outreach, and faith-driven music.
