Tyler Jones, vice president of church planting for the Acts 29 Network and founding pastor of Vintage Church, has been removed from his leadership positions after confessing to an inappropriate relationship with a woman who was not his wife.

In statements released by church and network leadership, Jones acknowledged that the relationship spanned multiple years in the past and fell short of the biblical standards required for pastoral ministry. Following his disclosure, the elders of Vintage Church voted to remove him from his role as lead pastor. Acts 29 Network likewise terminated his position, affirming that leaders within the organization must meet clear character qualifications consistent with Scripture.

Although the relationship reportedly occurred prior to his most recent executive leadership role within Acts 29, network officials stated that the nature of the conduct was incompatible with the spiritual and moral expectations placed upon pastors and church-planting leaders. Acts 29 emphasized its commitment to accountability and the health of its global church-planting movement.

Jones planted Vintage Church in 2002 and has served in leadership within Acts 29 for more than two decades, helping support and develop church plants across the United States and internationally. His removal marks a significant leadership transition for both the Raleigh-based congregation and the broader network.

In a communication to the church, Vintage elders expressed sorrow over the situation while reiterating their responsibility to uphold biblical qualifications for elders as outlined in passages such as 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1. They also requested prayer for Jones' wife, family, the woman involved, and the congregation as they navigate the aftermath of the disclosure.

Acts 29 leadership stated that while discipline and removal from office are necessary steps, they also believe in the possibility of repentance and restoration in appropriate contexts. At this time, however, Jones will no longer serve in any pastoral or executive capacity within the network.

Vintage Church leaders indicated that plans are underway for interim leadership and pastoral care to ensure stability during this season of transition. Additional updates will be provided as decisions regarding long-term leadership are made.

Both organizations affirmed their ongoing commitment to integrity, transparency, and the spiritual well-being of those they serve.
