Rising pop-electronic artist Xander Sallows has released his latest single, "it's been awhile," which arrived on streaming platforms March 6 through DREAM Records.
The new track continues Sallows' growing catalog of faith-inspired pop music, following his recent releases "infinite" and "highlight." Known for blending upbeat electronic production with heartfelt lyrics, the young artist's latest song combines modern pop melodies with a message rooted in Biblical storytelling.
According to Sallows, "it's been awhile" draws inspiration from the well-known parable of the prodigal son, retelling the story from the perspective of the son who returns home after turning away.
"'It's been a while' is a song that tells the parable of the prodigal son from the perspective of the prodigal son," Sallows shared. "Going through the stages of rejecting the Father's love to Him welcoming you back with open arms is a theme that many people can relate to."
He explained that the song is ultimately meant to remind listeners that God's grace is always available, no matter how far someone feels they have wandered.
"I hope this song encourages you to run toward the open arms of the Father, no matter how much shame or guilt you may feel," he added. "The Lord has grace and mercy for us."
With its energetic pop-electronic sound and reflective message, the track highlights Sallows' desire to connect creative production with faith-centered storytelling and themes of redemption.
Originally from southern Michigan, the 22-year-old artist has been creating and releasing music since he was just 16 years old. His musical approach blends influences from several genres while keeping his lyrics grounded in Christian faith.
Sallows is now based in Nashville, Tennessee, where he works as an artist, producer, and worship director, continuing to develop his sound while sharing messages of hope and spiritual reflection through music.
