Evangelist Franklin Graham shared that thousands of people made life-changing decisions to follow Jesus Christ during a massive Gospel outreach in Lima, PERU, where 48,500 people gathered for the Esperanza Lima event on March 8.
Following the event, Graham expressed gratitude for what he described as a powerful night of faith as the crowd filled the venue to hear the message of the Gospel.
"It was an incredible night in the beautiful city of Lima as 48,500 people came out to Esperanza Lima to hear the Gospel," Graham said. "We give God all the glory for the thousands who made the most important decision of their lives tonight-to turn from their sins and put their trust in Jesus Christ. Their lives have been changed for eternity."
During his message, Graham emphasized the heart of the Christian faith-that salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone, not through religion or human effort.
"Some people think religion can save you, but no one can save you except Jesus Christ," he told the crowd. "He came from Heaven to earth for you and me-to pay the penalty for our sins. He took our sins to the cross, died, was buried, and God raised Him to life on the third day."
Graham also reminded attendees that anyone who turns to God in faith can receive forgiveness and a new beginning.
"But God loves you, and if you ask Him to forgive you and put your trust in His Son, Jesus Christ, He will forgive you and give you a fresh start," he said.
For those who want to learn more about beginning a relationship with Christ, Graham encouraged people to visit https://PeaceWithGod.net, which explains the Gospel and provides resources for spiritual guidance.
The event also featured worship music from several Christian artists including Charity Gayle, Christine D'Clario, Jahaziel, Dennis Agajanian, The Afters, and The Tommy Coomes Band, helping create an atmosphere of praise and worship throughout the evening.
Graham thanked the many local churches and volunteers who helped organize the outreach and assist those who responded to the Gospel message. He also asked believers around the world to pray for the thousands of new believers and the churches that will follow up with them.
Esperanza Lima is part of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association's ongoing global evangelism efforts, which aim to share the hope of the Gospel and connect new believers with local churches for discipleship.
