Legal analyst and television personality Nancy Grace is raising questions about the ongoing disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie, who has now been missing for more than a month.
Speaking on a recent episode of her "Crime Stories with Nancy Grace" podcast, Grace said she is baffled that authorities have not yet located Guthrie despite what appears to be significant evidence in the case.
"How is this possible in this day and age?" Grace asked during the March 5 episode. "I have never seen anything like it before."
Grace pointed to the amount of information investigators reportedly have already gathered, including surveillance video and thousands of tips from the public.
"We've got the guy on video. We have his height. We have his weight. We have the date. We've got the time," Grace said. "We've got 50,000 tips. Nancy Guthrie is still missing. Why is she still missing?"
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on February 1 from her home in the Catalina Foothills area of Tucson, Arizona. Authorities believe she may have been abducted during the early morning hours, and the case is being investigated as a possible kidnapping.
Investigators previously released security footage showing a man outside Guthrie's home wearing a ski mask, black gloves, and what appeared to be a holster. The individual, believed to be approximately 5'9" to 5'10", also carried an Ozark Trail backpack that authorities suspect may have been purchased locally.
Despite the images and thousands of tips submitted to investigators, the suspect has not yet been publicly identified, and Guthrie's whereabouts remain unknown.
The disappearance has been especially difficult for her daughter, Savannah Guthrie, who temporarily stepped away from her duties as co-anchor of NBC's Today while the search continues. During a recent visit with the show's staff, Savannah expressed gratitude for the support she has received and said she continues to hold on to hope.
"I'm still standing, and I still have hope," she said. "I'm holding onto my faith. I still believe."
Authorities with the Pima County Sheriff's Department and federal investigators continue to pursue leads as the search for Nancy Guthrie enters its second month.
Meanwhile, Grace says the case remains deeply troubling.
"This is a case that just doesn't make sense," she said, urging continued public attention as investigators work to find answers.
