The Christian music community is rallying in prayer for David Leonard and his family after the Grammy-nominated singer shared that his 7-year-old daughter, River, is "fighting for her life" in a Nashville hospital.
Leonard, known for his work with All Sons & Daughters and his solo album Just Jesus, revealed the heartbreaking update on March 25, 2026, writing, "Yall today our little one is fighting for her life. I write this asking for you to lift her up. We are in need of what only the Father can do. Lord bring a miracle."
River was hospitalized after doctors discovered a recurrence of fluid buildup around her heart, a condition she previously faced several years ago. The family had earlier shared that she underwent a procedure at the time and had since recovered, but Leonard confirmed they are now back at Vanderbilt in Nashville as her condition rapidly worsened. Reports indicate River has been placed on a ventilator, with doctors closely monitoring her vital signs, including unstable blood pressure.
The crisis has prompted an immediate and widespread response from across the Christian music world. Artists including Amanda Janson, Natalie Grant, Tauren Wells, and Kari Jobe are among those publicly lifting the Leonard family in prayer, joined by thousands of fans and fellow worship leaders.
Messages of support have filled Leonard's social media, with many declaring prayers for "miraculous healing," "complete restoration," and God's peace over River and her family. The unified response reflects Leonard's deep connections within the worship community and the shared faith that continues to anchor many in the midst of crisis.
The situation is especially personal for Leonard, whose 2025 album Just Jesus was inspired in part by River's earlier health battle. Just one day before sharing that she was fighting for her life, Leonard had asked supporters to pray that the fluid would resolve without medical intervention, writing, "Can you pray with us that it just drains itself... we have seen the power of prayer and we are believing for it."
As River remains in critical condition, the Leonard family continues to ask for urgent prayer, with believers around the world responding in unity-holding onto faith for what Leonard described as "what only the Father can do."
