Hannah Harper will make her Grand Ole Opry debut on June 2 as part of the venue's Summer of the Century celebration during CMA Fest week in Nashville. The show marks her first appearance on country music's most iconic stage - and she will not be walking out alone.
Carrie Underwood - Harper's American Idol judge and the last female country artist to win the competition before Harper did - is also on the June 2 lineup, alongside ACM New Female Artist of the Year Avery Anna. Two shows are scheduled that night at 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM.
The pairing could not be more fitting. Underwood won American Idol in 2005. Harper won it in 2026. Twenty-one years apart - and now sharing the same stage at the same institution that helped launch Underwood's career.
Underwood has been clear about what she sees in Harper: "She's a really good songwriter, people just relate to her - and all of those things that encompass together is what gives someone 'it,' and she just has it."
Harper has spoken about the weight of that connection. "I am the first female country artist since Carrie - so that's 20 years. I feel like I have really big shoes to fill. But also, what a badge of honor. I hope that I make that genre proud, but also glorify God at the same time, because I've been given this amazing platform to do so."
Harper joins a long list of American Idol alumni who have performed at the Opry - including current members Underwood, Scotty McCreery, and Lauren Alaina.
Hours after the announcement, Harper shared her reaction on Facebook directly: "I truly don't know if this will ever feel real. As a little girl, this was one of those dreams that felt far too big to even speak out loud. Yet somehow, the Lord has continued to write a story bigger than anything I could have imagined for myself. There truly couldn't be a more meaningful place to step into this next chapter than the Grand Ole Opry."
For a stay-at-home mom from Willow Springs, Missouri who sang in church before she ever stood on a national stage - those words say everything.
The June 2 show kicks off a packed CMA Fest week at the Opry. Additional highlights include a Don Williams tribute on June 10 featuring Keith Urban, Trisha Yearwood, and Rodney Crowell, and an Opry Celebrates 90s Country night on June 28. Backstage tours and a free outdoor concert series run all summer long. Music Mayhem
