If you only discovered Sabrina Carpenter through "Espresso" or her sold-out tours, you missed the origin story - and it is worth knowing.
It Started on Disney Channel
Carpenter's big break came with Girl Meets World, a Disney Channel sequel to the beloved '90s favorite Boy Meets World, which brought back original stars Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel as Cory and Topanga Matthews. Carpenter played Maya Hart - Riley's rebellious, artistic best friend - for all three seasons from 2014 to 2017.
While still on the show, she signed with Disney's Hollywood Records and released her first four albums, building a music career simultaneously with her acting work.
The Climb After Disney
When Girl Meets World ended, Carpenter did not slow down. She took on film roles in The Hate U Give, Tall Girl, and Clouds, steadily expanding her range beyond the Disney lane. In 2021 she signed with Island Records, signaling a new creative chapter entirely.
The Breakthrough Everyone Saw Coming
By 2024 she had scored her first No. 1 single with "Please Please Please" and her first No. 1 album with Short n' Sweet - becoming a six-time Grammy nominee in the process.
In June 2025, she reunited with Girl Meets World co-star Corey Fogelmanis in a TikTok ahead of the show's 11th anniversary, dancing to her new single "Manchild" - a moment that stopped longtime fans in their tracks.
Her former co-star Danielle Fishel perhaps said it best: "Can you believe how much Sabrina Carpenter has blown up?" - before adding that her stardom was evident from the very beginning.
From a Disney Channel bedroom set to No. 1 albums and arena tours, Carpenter's journey is a testament to what patience, consistency, and faith in your own talent can produce.
