She went from the Idol stage back to where it all began. And it felt exactly like you'd expect.

Three weeks after finishing third on American Idol, Keyla Richardson did something that meant more to her than any network television stage - she went back to church.

On June 1, Richardson shared a video from what she called her first church service in a while, performing live worship before a congregation that clearly had been waiting for her. The post quickly drew over 5,000 likes and hundreds of comments from fans and fellow believers.

In her own words: "Last night was crazy! My first church service in a while, and it felt so good to be back! We flipped Jesus at the mention of your name like never before!"

That line - we flipped Jesus at the mention of your name - says everything about who Keyla Richardson is. Not a contestant chasing a record deal. A worshipper who happened to light up one of America's biggest stages.

Richardson has served as the praise and worship leader at her church in Pensacola, Florida, for years - long before American Idol gave her a national platform. The show revealed her gift to millions, but Sunday morning is where that gift was always meant to live.

Since Idol, Richardson has been open about her plans to expand beyond gospel music - but made clear that gospel will always be at her core. "I think it just naturally comes out with every song that I sing. No matter the genre, no matter what I'm singing, it's just going to come out. It's who I am," she shared.

She's also not slowing down. Richardson has a lineup of performances this summer, including a reunion with fellow Season 24 finalists at CMA Fest in Nashville, and a hometown concert at the Saenger Theatre in Pensacola on July 25.

Through every step of her American Idol journey, her nine-year-old son Drew remained her biggest motivator - seen in the audience mouthing every lyric, every performance dedicated to him. Now back home, back in church, back on the stage that shaped her - that story is still very much being written.
