Tree63 is officially back.
The Dove Award-winning South African Christian rock band has released "Voyage," the title track from its forthcoming album VOYAGE, marking the group's first full-length project in nearly 11 years.
The new single arrived today (June 5), giving listeners another glimpse of what to expect from the highly anticipated album, which is scheduled for release on June 26 through Just Music, a label under Next Music Group.
Led by founding vocalist, guitarist, and songwriter John Ellis, Tree63's return follows a lengthy hiatus that began after the release of 2015's acclaimed album Land. During the intervening years, Ellis focused on solo projects while continuing to develop his faith and artistry.
According to Ellis, the inspiration for "Voyage" emerged from conversations about faith and the ongoing nature of spiritual growth.
Rather than viewing faith as a single moment of decision, the song explores the idea that the Christian life is an ongoing journey marked by discovery, transformation, and trust in God.
"The longer and further I pursue faith, the more the nature of the journey reveals itself," Ellis shared. The theme serves as the foundation for both the song and the upcoming album, emphasizing that a life of faith is a continual voyage rather than a destination.
Joining Ellis in this new chapter are drummer Angus Warden and bassist Deon Knipe. With the blessing of former members Darryl Swart and Daniel Ornellas, the new lineup began performing together in 2025 and soon found themselves creating fresh material that would eventually become VOYAGE.
The band's comeback began earlier this year with the release of "How Much Longer?" and now continues with the title track.
While introducing a fresh energy, the new music remains rooted in the faith-centered songwriting and rock sound that helped make Tree63 one of South Africa's most successful Christian music exports.
First formed in Durban in 1996, Tree63 gained international recognition through albums such as 63 and Tree63, producing memorable hits including "Treasure," "Look What You've Done," "King," and the widely celebrated worship anthem "Blessed Be Your Name."
The band earned a Dove Award for Rock Album of the Year and became a prominent presence across Christian radio and international touring circuits.
As Tree63 prepares to release VOYAGE later this month, Ellis hopes the music will remind listeners of timeless spiritual truths in an increasingly chaotic world. The new songs point listeners toward faith, hope, and the peace that can be found in God amid life's uncertainties.
From a faith perspective, Tree63's return is a reminder that God often continues to write new chapters long after many believe a story has ended. Their new music reflects the enduring nature of faith and the lifelong journey of following Christ.
