Opera and K-pop shared a stage in front of the entire world on June 11 - and the result was unforgettable.

At the FIFA World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City, legendary Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli joined Korean-American singer-songwriter EJAE for a powerful live performance of "DNA," the official FIFA World Cup 2026 anthem - blending Bocelli's soaring classical vocals with EJAE's dynamic K-pop stage presence in a true celebration of music across cultures.

It was the first time the two artists performed the anthem live together, taking place ahead of the tournament's opening match between Mexico and South Africa. EJAE delivered her portion of the anthem in Korean, the language in which she originally wrote the lyrics, while wearing a striking blue halter-neck gown with white floral detailing.

"DNA" also features David Guetta and Megan Thee Stallion, though only Bocelli and EJAE took the stage for the ceremony. Built around the lyric "It's more than just a game, it's our DNA," the anthem reflects the spirit of the first-ever World Cup hosted across three nations - the United States, Mexico, and Canada - with 48 teams competing across 16 host cities.

The anthem blends Bocelli's soaring classical vocals, Guetta's electronic production, Megan Thee Stallion's rap verses, and EJAE's emotive Korean-language delivery - a collision of genres and generations mirroring the global scale of the tournament itself.

Bocelli reflected on the collaboration: "And to sing on the Official Anthem alongside EJAE, Megan and David Guetta is a collaboration I will truly treasure. To FIFA, to the organisers, and to every fan who will gather in stadiums, living rooms and village squares across the globe, it is for you that we sing."

For two artists from completely different worlds - a devout Catholic opera legend and a K-pop songwriter known for blending faith into her music - sharing a stage to declare something "more than just a game" felt less like a coincidence and more like a meeting point. Music, once again, proved itself a language everyone understands.

"DNA" by Andrea Bocelli, EJAE, David Guetta, and Megan Thee Stallion is available now on all major streaming platforms. The FIFA World Cup 2026 continues through July 19.
