Christian music favorite Christy Nockels is celebrating 31 years of marriage to husband Nathan Nockels, but her anniversary tribute is turning heads for a deeply personal reason.
In a candid social media post, the worship leader revealed that while their three decades together have been filled with "stunningly beautiful milestones," their 30th year of marriage proved to be their most difficult yet.
"Though it was mixed with some stunningly beautiful milestones, our 30th year was our most challenging by far," Nockels shared.
Reflecting on their engagement years ago under the stars, the singer admitted that neither of them could have imagined the hardships that would eventually come their way.
"Those two kids in that second slide...we had no idea, that night we got engaged under the stars, what all we'd endure together in the years to come," she wrote.
The heartfelt confession quickly resonated with fans, many of whom praised the couple's honesty about the realities of long-term marriage. While Nockels did not reveal specific details about the struggles they faced, she described the season as a time of crushing, growth, and learning difficult lessons together.
"I know that precious, new oil comes in the crushing," she said. "But oh how I wish we could somehow pick and choose the hardship-and how and when it falls on us."
Rather than allowing the challenges to divide them, Nockels said the difficult season strengthened their relationship in unexpected ways. She revealed that she and Nathan have learned to become better listeners, show greater empathy, and recognize personal blind spots that can often go unnoticed.
The singer also credited prayer as the most powerful tool in helping them navigate the storms they faced.
"We've learned more about how to fight for our family with the best weapon we have: prayer," she explained. "It's the first defense, not the last."
Nockels concluded the emotional tribute by thanking her husband for standing by her side through every high and low of their journey together.
"Thank you for walking close by my side, Nate Dawg, and for loving me through thick and thin," she wrote. "Here with you, always, until the glorious end."
The post serves as a rare glimpse behind the scenes of one of Christian music's most beloved couples, reminding fans that even relationships that appear picture-perfect face seasons of hardship-and that perseverance, faith, and prayer can help carry couples through their darkest moments.
