Taylor Swift wrote it in one night. Now it's making history every week.

"I Knew It, I Knew You," Swift's original song for Toy Story 5, has pulled off something that has never happened before at country radio.

The song received playlist adds from all 157 Mediabase-monitored country stations in its launch week - making it the first song by a female artist to ever close out the Mediabase panel in its debut week.

Swift herself acknowledged the milestone with a message that felt every bit as on-brand as the song itself. In a note to country radio, she wrote: "Country radio: Man, it's been a while! Thanks for making history with me - To infinity and beyond! Love you!"

The song has also held at Number One on the UK Official Singles Chart for two consecutive weeks, giving Swift her seventh Number One single there.

The chart run is remarkable on its own. But the backstory makes it even more so. Swift wrote the song after requesting to see an unfinished cut of the film - went home that same night, wrote it, and asked Disney if they wanted it.

They said yes. Written from the perspective of Jessie the cowgirl, it marks a genuine return to her country roots.

Swift rose to fame as a country artist before pivoting to pop with 2014's 1989 - making this a full-circle moment that country radio received with open arms.

A song born from genuine love for a story, offered freely, now reaching everywhere. That's what it looks like when art comes from the right place.

"I Knew It, I Knew You" is streaming now on all major platforms.
