Kane Brown is opening up about a side of fame he doesn't often talk about: loneliness. In a late-June appearance on The Pivot Podcast, the country star admitted he doesn't have close friends within the country music industry, despite years of collaborations and chart success.
"I feel like I have more athlete friends than I do musician friends," Brown said, pointing to his friendship with Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes as an example. "I feel alone in the music world."
Brown said he has plenty of industry acquaintances who will text him occasionally or catch up at events - naming Morgan Wallen, Shaboozey, Chris Young, and Jason Aldean as some who reach out most - but said texting isn't the same as real friendship. "I don't know if I could really say we're friends," he said, describing himself as "always been a loner" and "socially awkward."
He used the moment to make an open invitation to any fellow artist listening. "I just want a friend in the industry that we just chill, come over, hit the golf sim, have a few beers, talk," he said.
Brown's honesty follows a familiar thread in his music - faith has long shown up in his songs, from 2020's "Worship You" to his recent single "Unspoken," where he sings about never leaving "a prayer left un-prayed." Whether it's loneliness or gratitude, Brown has built a career on saying the quiet part out loud.
