Centricity Music has announced the promotion of longtime executive Matt Ewald to Head of A&R, expanding his leadership responsibilities as the Franklin, Tennessee-based independent Christian music company continues investing in artist development and creative excellence.

The announcement, made on July 20, comes as Centricity Music builds on its momentum after being recognized as the No. 1 Billboard Top Christian Albums Imprint for three consecutive years. In his new role, Ewald will lead the label's A&R strategy, overseeing artist discovery, signings, artist development, song selection, repertoire direction, and long-term creative planning. He will also work closely with the company's label, publishing, marketing, and executive leadership teams to help shape the future of Centricity's growing roster.

Ewald joined Centricity Music in 2016 and has served as Vice President of A&R. During his tenure, he has played an important role in developing many of the label's artists, helping establish the creative direction behind releases from Katy Nichole, Chris Renzema, Brandon Heath, and others. He is also an active member of both the Gospel Music Association and The Recording Academy.

CEO Caren Seidle praised Ewald's leadership and long-standing commitment to the label's mission.

"Matt has been a trusted creative voice and steady advocate for Centricity's artists and writers," Seidle said. "He understands the heart of our mission, the importance of long-term artist development and the responsibility we carry in offering music that encourages and inspires people. His role in A&R reflects both the leadership he has already demonstrated and the vision he brings for shaping the future of our roster."

The leadership transition also marks the passing of responsibilities from outgoing President of A&R John Mays, who expressed confidence in Ewald's ability to guide the department into its next chapter.

"There was so much to learn from Matt during my decade of working alongside him," Mays shared. "How to be a better A&R person, sure, but also how to be a better man. Centricity is fortunate to move into the future with Matt heading up the A&R team and contributing more involved leadership to the company's mission, vision and direction."

As Head of A&R, Ewald will oversee every stage of the creative process-from identifying emerging talent and signing new artists to shaping song selection and developing long-term artistic careers. His expanded responsibilities reflect Centricity Music's continued emphasis on cultivating artists through relationship-driven support rather than short-term commercial success.

Founded in 2005, Centricity Music has earned a reputation as one of Christian music's leading independent labels, balancing artistic diversity with a mission-centered approach. The company provides both label and publishing services while helping artists create music designed to encourage and inspire listeners around the world.

The label's current roster features respected names including Andrew Peterson, Band Reeves, Bay Turner, Brandon Heath, Centricity Worship, Chris Renzema, Jason Gray, Jaye King, John Allan, Jordan Feliz, Katy Nichole, Mack Brock, Natalie Layne, Rachel Purcell, The Choir Room, and Unspoken. Throughout its history, the company has also played a significant role in developing artists such as Lauren Daigle, Aaron Shust, and Downhere.

Over the years, Centricity Music's artists and team have received numerous industry honors, including Grammy Awards, Billboard Awards, Dove Awards, K-LOVE Fan Awards, along with multiple Gold and Platinum-certified albums and singles, underscoring the label's influence across Christian music.
