Beyoncé Slammed For Selling An Empty Wooden Box For $948

Beyoncé may be celebrating her birthday, but some members of the BeyHive are not feeling particularly festive about the superstar's latest luxury offering.

The Grammy-winning singer has unveiled a limited-edition Bey Keeper Collector's Box priced at an eyebrow-raising $948.01. Only 500 individually numbered boxes are being produced-but despite that luxury price tag, buyers will not find any records inside.

Yes, the box comes empty.

According to Beyoncé's official store, the handmade solid-pine crate was created to house and display a Beyoncé vinyl collection. Inspired by traditional beekeeper boxes, it is finished with beeswax oil and lined with deep-green velvet. It also features engraved details and a faux alligator-skin carrying strap with gold hardware.

The oddly precise $948.01 price is no accident. It represents Beyoncé's birth date-September 4, 1981-and the collector's item was released alongside celebrations marking the 20th anniversary of her 2006 album B'Day.

But that sentimental connection did little to soften the sticker shock.

"What is this, a coffin for a hamster?" one social-media user joked, while others questioned why even Beyoncé's most devoted followers would spend nearly $1,000 on a wooden record crate. Another fan quipped that after people complained about the price of a previous vinyl collection, Beyoncé apparently decided to "do you one worse."

Shipping and taxes could reportedly push the final cost well beyond $1,000 for some American customers. The preorder is also listed as a final sale and is expected to ship beginning November 1, 2026.

The pricey crate arrives alongside a four-LP B'Day 20th-anniversary deluxe edition, sold separately for $149.98. That collection contains 27 tracks, a 60-page commemorative booklet and two double-sided art prints-but buyers hoping to place it inside the Bey Keeper box will have to purchase both items.

Naturally, the BeyHive remains divided. Some collectors view the numbered box as an exclusive piece of Beyoncé history, while others think the billionaire entertainer may finally have discovered the upper limit of her fans' loyalty.

Beyoncé took the "Hive" concept literally-but at almost $950 for an empty crate, plenty of fans are refusing to be stung.
