Kelly Osbourne Reveals She Wore A Wig To Hide “Scary” Weight Loss After Ozzy’s Death

Kelly Osbourne has revealed just how severely grief affected her body following the death of her father, Ozzy Osbourne-and why she secretly relied upon a wig and carefully selected clothing to conceal the alarming change.

The 41-year-old television personality said she had become so consumed by emotional pain that she failed to recognize how thin she had grown. The devastating reality only registered when she saw a photograph of herself during a fitting for the 2026 Grammy Awards.

"I looked like the f---ing Crypt Keeper," Kelly candidly told The Mail on Sunday. "I said, 'This is scary. I didn't know I looked like this.' My spine-you could see every single bone."

While family members and friends could see that something was wrong, Kelly said her grief had distorted the way she viewed herself.

"I couldn't see what other people saw because I was in so much pain," she explained. "I just saw a broken person."

Kelly attended the Grammys with her mother, Sharon Osbourne, and other members of the family as the music industry honored Ozzy's enormous legacy. However, what appeared to be a glamorous red-carpet look was quietly constructed to disguise just how unwell she had become.

"I wore a wig to cover my face, so you couldn't see how skinny my cheekbones really were," she disclosed.

Her stylists also deliberately searched for clothing that would not make her frame appear even smaller. Kelly was terrified that conversations about her appearance would overshadow the tribute to her father-the very reason she had summoned the strength to attend.

"They knew I was going through something," she said of her styling team. "We were trying to find clothes to not make me look skinnier. I was scared."

Looking back, Kelly now questions whether she should have attended the ceremony at all.

"I wanted to be there to support my mum and pay tribute to my father's legacy," she explained. "But in all honesty, when I reflect on it, I don't think I should have gone. I wasn't very well."

Ozzy died on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76, only weeks after performing his emotional farewell concert with Black Sabbath in Birmingham. His family said he was surrounded by loved ones during his final moments. Kelly subsequently described the heavy-metal pioneer not simply as her father, but as "the best friend I ever had."

Her grief reportedly became so overwhelming that ordinary feelings of hunger disappeared. Kelly said attempts to eat made her feel physically sick, while the emotional pain drowned out her body's requests for food.

"You're filled with so much pain that the feeling of hunger can't even pop up," she explained.

The dramatic change in Kelly's appearance attracted an avalanche of online speculation, including accusations that she was using Ozempic or another weight-loss medication. At the time, she angrily reminded critics that they were judging someone attempting to survive the loss of a parent.

"My dad just died," she said in a video addressing the comments. "I'm doing the best that I can, and the only thing I have to live for right now is my family."

Kelly has also been shielding her three-year-old son, Sidney, from the darkest moments of her grief. She said she would force herself into "Fun Mum" mode whenever he entered the room and leave before allowing him to see her cry.

Her recovery remains a work in progress, but Kelly says she is now receiving help. She is also reportedly developing a three-part television series exploring grief, bereavement and mental health, believing that sharing the unfiltered reality of her experience could help others feel less alone.

"There's a lot that people don't know," she acknowledged. "The person I was before my dad died is dead. That person doesn't exist anymore."

Kelly's confession reveals that the wig was never merely a red-carpet fashion decision. It was emotional armor-one small part of an attempt to protect her father's tribute while concealing a level of suffering she was not yet ready for the world to see.
