Avengers: Doomsday has crossed $55 million in domestic presales with three months still to go before its December 18 release, according to Global Box Office and Deadline - a pace that's already outperforming a number of 2026's major theatrical releases.
The milestone follows Disney CFO Hugh Johnston confirming the film had passed $50 million in advance sales during a Goldman Sachs investor conference last week. More than 70% of those tickets were sold for premium large-format screenings, including Disney's new Infinity Vision format. The film won't play in U.S. IMAX theaters for its first three weeks, since Dune: Part Three - which opens the same day - holds IMAX exclusivity through that window.
Doomsday reunites the Russo brothers as directors, with Robert Downey Jr. stepping into the role of Doctor Doom and Chris Evans returning as Steve Rogers. The film kicks off Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with one of the franchise's largest ensembles to date.
Online rumors have also picked up ahead of release, including unverified claims of a leaked scene between Doctor Doom and Hulk in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame: Encore re-release, reportedly hinting at a "recruitment" rather than a straightforward confrontation. Marvel and Disney have not confirmed any of these details, and fans should treat the claims as speculation until officially addressed.
Whatever the final plot reveals, Doomsday's early numbers suggest audiences are showing up in force for a story built once again around sacrifice, loyalty, and a world worth saving.
