Selma Blair's legal team has offered a medical explanation for the alleged incident that led to her arrest and hospital evaluation following a Delta flight. Her lawyers attribute the episode to missed medication and a head injury.

The 54-year-old Legally Blonde and Cruel Intentions actress was taken into custody at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport on Sunday, October 11. Police said two flight attendants reported injuries and one required hospital treatment; Blair was also transported to a hospital for evaluation.

At her arraignment, Blair pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault. Her defense described confusion following missed medication, a fall and exhausting work hours; bail was set at $20,000 cash or a $60,000 bond.

The allegations extend beyond the aircraft. Authorities also accused Blair of kicking a police officer and a nurse after the flight, according to Reuters' account of her arraignment. Her representative characterized the episode as a medical emergency and said she was stable after receiving immediate care.

Delta reiterated its policy against disruptive or unlawful conduct, emphasizing passenger and crew safety. The airline said the flight landed ahead of schedule and law enforcement met the aircraft upon arrival.

Blair's next hearing is scheduled for January 19, 2027. Her lawyers' explanation remains a defense claim; the allegations have not been proven in court.
