Reality TV personality Mackayla Paige, known as "Kash," was fatally shot in downtown Oakland early Sunday. She was 29. Oakland police have arrested a woman from Richmond in connection with the shooting, but they have not released her name, any charges, or what led to it, according to KTVU and Oxygen.
Officers responded to calls around 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 11 on the 200 block of 14th Street, near 14th and Harrison. They found Paige with at least one gunshot wound. Police told Oxygen that officers attempted life-saving measures before she was taken to a hospital, where she died. The Oakland Police Department's Homicide Section is investigating.
Paige, from Richmond, became known through Now That's TV, appearing on "Real West Coast Baddies," "RoomH8z," and "Young & Reckless." Hours before the shooting, she shared Instagram Stories from a night out, TMZ reported.
Her cousin, Nicky Clayton, told KTVU she is in disbelief. She said Paige had been with family earlier that night and dreamed of fame, her own business, and a career as a makeup artist. A memorial has formed near the scene.
Not to be confused with the rapper Kash Doll. Police and media reports identify the woman killed as Mackayla Paige. Kash Doll is a separate person.
