Lucian Piane, the music producer and songwriter behind much of the music on "RuPaul's Drag Race," has died at 46. He died after being hit by a car in Glendale, California, on Monday morning, Oct. 12, according to police.
Law enforcement sources told NBC Los Angeles that Piane was crossing San Fernando Road near West Harvard when a sedan struck him. Glendale police said the driver stayed at the scene and called 911, and that Piane died there. Police described it as a traffic accident and said no drugs or alcohol were involved. Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records also list his date of death as Oct. 12.
Piane worked on the main "Drag Race" series for Seasons 1 through 8, composing the music and the show's "Rusical" numbers. He also worked on "Drag Race: All Stars." He co-wrote some of RuPaul's biggest songs, including "Cover Girl," "Sissy That Walk" and "Born Naked." He also co-wrote the show's theme tune.
World of Wonder, the production company behind the franchise, said it was devastated by his passing and praised the legacy of beautiful music he left behind.
JubileeCast extends its sympathy to Piane's family, friends and collaborators, and invites readers to keep them in their prayers.
