Produced by Lamontt Blackshire, the remix reimagines the well-known Serenity Prayer through contemporary hip-hop production, rap verses, and gospel vocals. The song reflects on surrendering what cannot be controlled, finding courage to pursue change, and relying on God throughout life's challenges.
The release carries personal significance for Hawkins, who has overcome addiction and two overdoses and now celebrates more than a decade in recovery. Drawing from his own journey, he uses music to address the realities of addiction, shame, and spiritual struggle while pointing listeners toward redemption, restoration, and renewed hope.
The single also supports Hawkins' broader mission of raising awareness about mental health and recovery. As founder and executive director of The Recovery Gathering (TRG), he works to serve individuals and families affected by addiction, mental health challenges, and other hardships. Through music and faith-based outreach, his work seeks to encourage conversations about recovery and connect people with messages of hope.
"Serenity Prayer (Remix)" also sets the stage for Hawkins' upcoming album, The Recovery Journey Project, scheduled for release on November 5, 2026. The project combines gospel, R&B, hip-hop, and contemporary influences, with songs exploring resilience, healing, and the possibility of new beginnings.
The album includes tracks such as "Worth It", "Lifted by Love," "We Coming Up", "Things Will Work Out (Remix)", and "Just For Today".
