British cancer blogger Charlie Anderson-Read left her followers a goodbye they could never have prepared for: a video in which she announced her own death. Recorded weeks before her passing and released afterward, the message begins: "If you are watching this video, I am, unfortunately, no longer here." Anderson-Read died on October 10, leaving behind her wife, Louise, and their four-year-old daughter, Florence.

According to Parade, the recording appeared on Instagram five hours after her death. An opening message informed viewers that she had died at 7:30 that morning, explaining that she had prepared the video specifically to be shared when she was gone. What followed was her own farewell to the community that had accompanied her through nearly three years of illness.

Anderson-Read's cancer journey began in November 2023, when she was 38. On her fundraising page, she explained that an initial diagnosis of terminal pancreatic cancer was later revised to terminal cholangiocarcinoma, a rare and aggressive cancer of the bile ducts. The diagnosis came just three weeks after her father died from kidney cancer, bringing another devastating blow to her family.

She wrote that she had initially been given only six weeks to live. Over the following years, she underwent chemotherapy, radiotherapy and several targeted treatments, including a trial, while sharing her experience through her Instagram account, @mummy_againstcancer. Her fundraising appeal described the emotional and physical demands of treatment, alongside her determination to keep going.

By late September, her family was preparing for the end. LADbible reported that Louise posted an update on September 29 saying Charlie was nearing death and spending her final days at home. After exhausting her treatment options, the focus had shifted to keeping her comfortable.

Yet the farewell she recorded centered on gratitude. Anderson-Read thanked followers for their encouragement and for donations intended to help Louise and Florence after her death. She also expressed hope that sharing such a painful experience had helped other people, describing the kindness she had encountered throughout her illness.

The most painful part of her goodbye concerned the future she would miss. She spoke about wanting more time with her family and the chance to watch Florence grow up, while acknowledging how much she had experienced during the years beyond her initial prognosis. Her message held both feelings together: appreciation for the life she had lived and grief over leaving the people she loved.

Her closing appeal was for others to continue despite her death. "Keep fighting, you've got this," she said, urging viewers facing their own struggles to persevere. The woman whose followers had spent years encouraging her used her final recording to offer encouragement back.
