Tickets for "The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping" go on sale Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 9 a.m. ET (6 a.m. PT), according to the film's official announcement.

When can you see it? The movie opens in theaters Nov. 20, 2026. Select early-access screenings begin Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 6 p.m. in premium formats, including IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, ScreenX, Cinemark XD, Regal RPX, and AMC Prime. Check your local theater's site or app for participating locations.

How long is it? AMC lists the film at 2 hours and 38 minutes, reportedly the longest in the franchise. Other theater sites list slightly different times. It is rated PG-13.

What is it about? Directed by Francis Lawrence and based on Suzanne Collins' 2025 novel, the film is set 24 years before the original story. It follows 16-year-old Haymitch Abernathy (Joseph Zada) from District 12 on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, the Second Quarter Quell, which has twice as many tributes. Whitney Peak plays Lenore Dove Baird, and Mckenna Grace plays Maysilee Donner. The franchise's five earlier films have grossed more than $3.3 billion worldwide.

A note for families: The story follows teenagers forced into a deadly contest, so parents may want to check content details and ratings information before buying tickets for younger viewers.
