Oscar-nominated director Michael Mann, 83, was treated at a hospital after a firearm accidentally discharged at a Los Angeles gun range, and his representatives say the injury was superficial.
The incident happened around 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, at The Range LA, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Police said Mann was injured in a training accident and that he had no intention of harming himself. He was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
In a statement, his representatives said a weapon accidentally discharged while holstered, causing a superficial injury. They said he was treated and is being released. Reports say Mann has been an experienced target shooter for decades.
Mann is best known for directing "Heat," "The Insider," "Collateral," "Thief," "Manhunter" and "Miami Vice." He earned an Oscar nomination for Best Director for "The Insider," and his most recent film was 2023's "Ferrari."
No further details about his recovery have been released.
