The Last Ship 2 News, Reviews, Reveals and Plot: Second Installment to Feature Twist in Plot that Upends Story
The Last Ship tells the story of how a naval destroyer; U.S.S. Nathan James was sent to the arctic on a pretence military drill mission while the real mission known only to two scientists was to get the makings of a vaccine that would soon destroy the world. After 4 months, the crew and its captain learned what was happening and found themselves in a situation where they had to compromise to survive and make hard decisions when they counted the most, in a world where civilization is mostly gone.
The cast of the film include; Eric Dane, from Greys Anatomy Fame, Rhona Mitra from Strike Back playing the paleo-microbiologist sent to make a cure and Adam Baldwin, as well as Charles Parnell, Travis Van Winkle and Christina Elmore. The series has become quite popular during this last summer. According to reviews, the first four episodes of the series averaged about 4.66 million viewers per week as well as a rating of 1.1 for the 18-49 demographic. Michael Wright, head of programming for TnT stated that the drama has become the summer's top drama among the key adult demos at least considering storytelling and the scale of the plot.
At the present, there is not set premiere for the second installment of the last ship but it will definitely be next year. It should also be sometime around the time the first installment of the series came out. As such, it is going to have about 13 episodes this time as opposed to ten episodes which comprised the first season. The finale of the first season ended with whole new twist which turns the story around. According to Hank Steinberg, about the twist, "It drives the series to a whole new direction." Steven Kane who is also an executive producer with the show claimed that the second season is going to feature whole new set of problems and adventures for the crew of the Nathan James.
