True Detective Season 2: Plot, Release Date, and Cast Updates
The American crime drama series True Detective is renewed for a second season. The upcoming season 2 will be having major changes - it will have a different storyline with different characters and setting. Unlike the previous season, each episode of the new season will have a different director.
The True Detective season 2 showrunner Nic Pizzolatto says that the synopsis for the second season will be "hard women, bad men, and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system".
He also shared a few details on the main characters of the new season, "Right now, we're working with three leads...The characters are all new, but I'm deeply in love with each of them. We've got the entire series broken out with a couple of scripts, and we'll probably start casting in earnest in the coming months".
As for the new setting, Pizzolatto said, "It takes place in California - not Los Angeles, but some of the much lesser known venues of California - and we're going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in season one".
The rumored True Detective cast members for the upcoming season are all females, and seven actresses will be auditioning for the lead female role of a tough Monterey sheriff, Ani Bezzerides. Jessica Biel is one of the 7 actresses auditioning for the role.
True Detective Season 2 premieres in the summer of 2015.
