Spectral Movie Release Date, Reviews, Reveals, Rumors and Updates: James Badge Dale and Max Martini Part of the Cast for Unusual Mix of Supernatural and Special Operations Flick
As you would have guessed from the name the movie has a supernatural theme. 2014 and 2015 have seen a multitude of horror movies and we do not know yet if 2016 will stick to the trend or the studios will be all horror-ed out. Spectral is directed by Nic Mathieu for Legendary Pictures and Universal Pictures. Judging from the studios that have attached their names to the project the movie is set to be quite a crowd puller. The screen play has no less than three writers attached to it. Ian Fried, John Gatins and George Nolfi collectively have notable movies like The Adjustment Bureau and Coach Carter under their belts. Sitting in the producers chairs are Jon Jashni and Thomas Tull.
The movie is about a special operations team that is sent to a European city to fight supernatural beings that have invaded the city. Considering that Ghost Busters already got their reboot we will make an educated guess and say that this is not it. However we wonder if this team has previously battled supernatural beings Hell-boy style or they shall be dragged into the fight kicking and screaming Godzilla style. The movie started shooting in August of 2014 in Budapest so we cannot as now tell what to expect but as soon as we get a little info we will be sure to pass it on. The kind of beings to be fought is also in question, surely it cannot be ghosts, it will have to e something larger and more menacing, possibly life threatening and city flattening. The CGI boys at Legendary Pictures are going to have a field day with this one.
James Badge Dale whom we remember from The Departed; Max Martini from Saving Private Ryan; Bruce Greenwood from iRobot and Emily Mortimer from The Newsroom are confirmed on the cast list. Other people on the list are Clayne Crawford, Cory Hardrict, Philip Bilcock and Louis Ozawa Changchien. The movie is set to be released on August 12th 2016 in 3D.
