Sarah Hyland Latest News: I Feared for My Life; Files Restraining Order
Sarah Hyland has been granted restraining order against Matthew Prokop, her ex-boyfriend. The actress claims that Prokop has been verbally and physically abusing her for the past four years that they've been together. Prokop allegedly choked and pushed her around.
According to court documents that was obtained by TMZ, it was actually her co-star and TV mom Julie Bowen who helped her end the relationship with Prokop last May 14, 2014. Prokop allegedly pinned the actress down against a car while they were having an argument about the actress's outfit. He grabbed her by the throat and spat some bad words to her. Hyland said, "His grip was so tight that I could not breathe or speak. I was scared and in fear for my life."
Well, at least now we know why she's not that broken about the breakup. The actress said that she asked Julie Bowen to come to her house and help her end the relationship peacefully. Hyland even bought a plane ticket for Prokop to go back to his hometown in Texas. When Prokop arrived at her home, he saw Bowen and immediately freaked out. He ran outside into the backyard and started screaming. Things got worst and Bowen stepped in and told Hyland to get out of the house.
Hyland claims that after the breakup, the threats continued. Prokop "threatened to set one of her houses on fire." Hyland added, "[He] relentlessly bombarded me with vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voice mails including his own suicide threats."
Prokop was released from rehab last Sept. 21, 2014. The director of the rehab center contacted the judge that handles Hyland's case and said that it is for the best interest of both parties to grant restraining order against Prokop due to the fact that his mental state is not stable and he still has some negative attitude towards Hyland.
Prokop is now required to stay at least 100 yards away from Hyland.
