The Martian Movie Release, Spoilers, Cast Updates: Jeff Daniels, Donald Glover and Aksel Hennie to join The Martian cast
Ridley Scott is set to direct The Martian, featuring an all-star The Martian cast including Matt Damon, Kate Mara, Jessica Chastain, Michael Pena, Mackenzie Davis, and Kirsten Wigg. However, the influx of casting news doesn't end there just yet as it has been confirmed that Jeff Daniels, Donald Glover and Aksel Hennie will be joining the list.
For those who have been living under the rock, The Martian tells the story of Mark Watney, an astronaut, who is stranded in a colony on Mars when his crew leaves him on the planet, and is trying to get back home to Earth. Meanwhile, NASA is trying to send a rescue mission to him while Watney tries to survive on his own by adapting to his surroundings such as growing his food and making the most out of his current resources. The Martian is originally a self-published book written by Andy Weir back in 2012.
According to reports, Matt Damon is set to play Mark Watney, Daniels is cast to play the director of NASA while Glover and Davis are set to be NASA employees. Meanwhile, Wigg will portray NASA's director of media relations. Chastain is slated to play the leader of the said rescue mission and will be joined by Pena, Mara and Hennie as her fellow astronauts.
The Martian release date is set on November 25, 2015.
