Mortal Kombat X Continues the Fight Among the Warriors of the Six Realms
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mortal Kombat X, the tenth installment in the Mortal Kombat fighting game series from NetherRealm Studios, is set for release on April 14 next year. It will be available for the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows platforms. As in the older iterations of the game, the Mortal Kombat X gameplay will feature contests involving two players fighting against each other using a variety of attacks, special moves, and 'Fatalities.' Also, an 'energy meter' will allow players to perform X-Ray moves and other special techniques. With this latest version in the series, fighters can now also interact with the environment, like bouncing off areas to reposition themselves or using parts of the setting as weapons. Each fighter now is also given three different variations, each featuring a different set of moves they can use during the match. The game takes place in a span of 25 years starting from where Mortal Kombat 9 was last left.
The featured Mortal Combat X characters, according to NetherRealm Studios' head Ed Boon, aside from regulars Scorpion and Sub-Zero, include the insect-like D'Vorah, the masked giant Ferra/Torr, the Aztec-inspired blood god Kotal Kahn and Cassie Cage, the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade. Besides the Mortal Kombat X new characters introduced by Boone during an E3 press conference, the Mortal Kombat X wiki also lists Kano, Quan Chi, Raiden, and a bonus Goro for those who will be pre-purchasing the game. The wiki also says that there will be four stage settings for the game - Kove, Jungle, Outworld Marketplace, and Snow Forest. Players can choose from among multiple versions of the characters, with each version having its own given variation of gameplay.
