Multi-GRAMMY® Award-winning gospel icon Yolanda Adams recently sat down with podcaster Clay Cane on The Clay Cane Show, offering thoughtful and transparent reflections on faith, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and the lasting impact of church hurt.
During the wide-ranging conversation, Adams affirmed her belief that LGBTQ+ individuals are created by God exactly as they were meant to be. She emphasized that negative reactions from church communities often stem from learned behaviors and upbringing, rather than from the heart of the gospel itself.
Adams also spoke openly about the realities of church hurt, underscoring how words and actions within faith spaces can leave deep and enduring wounds. She urged church members and leaders to be mindful of how they speak to and treat others, noting that unkindness and judgment can have long-term spiritual and emotional consequences.
Addressing younger listeners in particular, Adams encouraged them to seek out faith communities where they feel safe and supported in expressing their love for God authentically. She acknowledged that, for some, this may mean stepping away from a family church in order to find a healthier spiritual environment.
In addition to her continued influence in gospel music, Adams is currently starring in the hit Broadway musical Hell's Kitchen, further expanding her artistic reach while remaining a respected voice in conversations around faith, culture, and compassion.
