A new faith-based drama highlighting the life of gospel singer Della Beatrice Howard Robinson is currently in development as Hit Song Productions announces plans for The Della B. Robinson Story. The film will chronicle the remarkable journey of a gifted Gospel vocalist who stepped away from a promising music career to marry legendary musician Ray Charles, embracing a life defined by faith, sacrifice, and resilience.

The upcoming film explores Robinson's early career as a nationally recognized Gospel singer whose powerful voice once filled arenas and church sanctuaries across the country. Touring with Gospel great Cecil Shaw, Robinson was poised for a celebrated career in music. However, after falling in love with Ray Charles, she made the life-altering decision to step away from the spotlight to pursue what she believed would be a different dream-building a home and family.

That dream, however, quickly faced challenges. As Charles' career skyrocketed, Robinson navigated the difficulties of public scrutiny, her husband's well-documented struggles with addiction, and the pressures of raising a family in the shadow of global fame. Along the way, she also embraced the role of mother to Charles' daughter from a previous relationship. Through it all, Robinson's journey reflects a deeper message: shattered expectations do not mean shattered purpose.

"When God calls you to something greater than applause, obedience to God becomes your greatest act of worship," said executive producer Lexi Lewis. "This movie honors the women whose sacrifices build legacies."

The film promises a powerful blend of music, faith, and emotional storytelling. Featuring a soul-stirring soundtrack and a redemptive narrative, The Della B. Robinson Story aims to portray a deeply personal journey of surrender, endurance, and unwavering trust in God.

The screenplay is being written by Robert Eisele, the acclaimed writer behind the award-winning film The Great Debaters, which was directed by Denzel Washington and received a Golden Globe nomination along with the NAACP Image Award for Best Motion Picture. Eisele brings extensive storytelling experience and creative vision to Robinson's inspiring life story.

Music will also play an important role in the film. The debut single "Feels Like Heaven" from Grit The Band, featuring vocalist Natasha Arnall, will be included in the upcoming feature.

Hit Song Productions is a U.S.-based subsidiary of Champagne Productions Corporation, headquartered in British Columbia, Canada. The company focuses on television, media, and event production, developing projects that blend compelling storytelling with meaningful themes.

With its message of faith, sacrifice, and enduring hope, The Della B. Robinson Story seeks to shine a light on the quiet strength of a woman whose life behind the scenes helped shape a musical legacy.
