This April, something unprecedented is happening in the heart of the nation's capital - and every American is invited to witness it.

More than 400 Christian leaders, politicians, and celebrities will gather in Washington, D.C. to read the entire Bible aloud - from Genesis to Revelation - in just seven days. The event is called "America Reads the Bible," and it is being launched as part of the nation's 250th anniversary celebration.

The Vision Behind It

The event is the brainchild of Bunni Pounds, founder and president of Christians Engaged. "We believe the Word of God, simply read and listened to, can transform hearts, families, communities, and nations," Pounds said. "We're inviting Americans to listen or read aloud together in a powerful act of unity and faith for our 250th Birthday of America."

Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media, added: "America Reads the Bible is a reminder that the values and freedoms we cherish didn't appear out of nowhere - they were shaped, in many ways, by the Word of God."

How to Watch

The opening ceremony kicks off April 18 at 7 p.m. ET, live-streamed from National Community Church in Washington, D.C. on Great American Pure Flix. The full seven-day Bible reading then runs April 19-25 at the World Stage Theatre at the Museum of the Bible.

The public is welcome to attend in person or join the free livestream by registering at AmericaReadsTheBible.com. More than 100 national ministries and 475+ national leaders are participating.

The Politicians

The political presence alone makes this event historic. Confirmed readers include Ambassador Mike Huckabee, Sen. Ted Cruz (TX), Sen. James Lankford (OK), Sen. Jim Banks (IN), Gov. Greg Abbott (TX), Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders (AR), and several members of the House of Representatives.

The Christian Leaders

The ministry lineup is equally staggering - Franklin Graham, Dr. Ben Carson, Jonathan Cahn, Nick Vujicic, Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, Dr. Alveda King, Eric Metaxas, John and Lisa Bevere, and A.R. Bernard are among the hundreds of faith leaders who will take part.

The Artists and Entertainers

For JubileeCast readers, the creative and music lineup is where it gets exciting. Confirmed participants include:

Colton Dixon, Danny Gokey, Kim Walker-Smith, Meredith Andrews, Leeland Mooring, and Jennie Lee Riddle from the Christian music world - alongside entertainers Candice Cameron Bure, Patricia Heaton, Chonda Pierce, Kathy Ireland, and Kevin Sorbo.

Filmmaker Dallas Jenkins of The Chosen and director Andy Erwin are also among the readers, along with John Cooper of Skillet and a host of other creatives.

Why This Moment Is Different

In a culture increasingly divided, 400+ voices from across politics, ministry, music, and entertainment setting aside their platforms to simply read Scripture together is a statement in itself. This is not a concert, a conference, or a political rally - it is the Word of God, read aloud, for seven straight days, for a nation that was built on it.

As America turns 250, this may be one of the most defining faith moments of the year.
