Garth Brooks is having quite a week - and it's only Wednesday.
Today, Brooks received the RIAA's Artist of a Lifetime Award at the 2026 RIAA Honors event, becoming the first and only recording artist in history to earn 10 Diamond-certified albums - each one selling over 10 million units. RIAA chairman and CEO Mitch Glazier summed it up perfectly: "At the RIAA headquarters, we have a wall that has every diamond album ever certified, but Garth has 10. The wall won't fit Garth."
And that's just one headline. Reports surfaced this week that Brooks is also exploring the sale of his music catalog, seeking up to $2 billion in a deal that could rank among the largest for any individual artist in history.
The numbers behind that figure are hard to argue with. Brooks has sold a staggering 200 million albums in the United States alone - surpassing even The Beatles' 183 million, according to the RIAA. If the deal closes at $2 billion, it would break the current record set when Queen's catalog sold for $1.27 billion in 2024.
True to form, Brooks deflected the praise right back. "It's not about numbers, it is about the music," he said through a spokesperson. "This milestone goes directly to country radio."
That humility has always defined him. A devout Christian, Brooks has consistently credited God for his musical talent - and songs like "Unanswered Prayers" and "The Dance" have resonated with faith communities for decades. Whatever deal gets signed, the songs already belong to the people who love them.
