If you missed "Project Hail Mary" in theaters this spring, you no longer need to. Ryan Gosling's sci-fi hit is now streaming on Prime Video as of July 3, giving audiences an easy way to watch one of 2026's biggest box office successes from home.
The film, based on Andy Weir's bestselling novel, follows Dr. Ryland Grace (Gosling), a middle-school science teacher who wakes up alone on a spacecraft with no memory of his mission: saving Earth from a dying sun. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and written by Drew Goddard - who also adapted Weir's "The Martian" - the film grossed $683.5 million worldwide and holds a 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
As JubileeCast noted when the film hit theaters in March, "Project Hail Mary" isn't a faith-based movie, but its themes have resonated with Christian audiences. The heart of the story is Grace's friendship with Rocky, an alien on a similar mission to save his own world - a relationship built on trust and sacrifice across every possible difference. That arc echoes something familiar to believers: the call to love and work alongside those unlike ourselves for a greater good.
The path to streaming was unusually long. After its March 20 theatrical debut, the film moved to digital purchase in May, arrived on MGM+ in June, and has now reached Prime Video, where it's included at no extra cost for subscribers. Physical copies on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD follow August 11.
For families looking for a hopeful, largely clean sci-fi option this summer, "Project Hail Mary" is now just a few clicks away.
