Madison Watkins has a new single out, and it puts a fresh spin on one of worship music's most enduring prayers.
"Open the Eyes (Praise You)" released July 3 as part of New Music Friday, drawing its central refrain from the classic line, "won't you open the eyes of my heart." Watkins announced the release on social media with characteristic enthusiasm: "OPEN THE EYES (PRAISE YOU) IS OUT NOW!!! Send this to someone who would love this song."
The single continues Watkins' pattern of blending soulful pop production with worship-rooted lyrics - a combination that has defined her recent run of releases, including "Goodbye," "You Won't," and her EP "Letting Go," which chronicled her own journey through depression, anxiety, and spiritual renewal.
Watkins, a Fayetteville, Arkansas native and Season 19 "American Idol" finalist, signed with Provident Entertainment/Sony Music in January 2025 and has steadily built a catalog centered on faith, perseverance, and honesty about personal struggle. "Open the Eyes (Praise You)" leans into that same sincerity, reworking a familiar worship prayer into something contemporary and personal.
