Switchfoot's long-awaited debut at the Grand Ole Opry is now just days out, with the GRAMMY-winning rock band set to take the legendary Nashville stage on Thursday, July 23.
The band learned of the invitation on air, during an appearance on the Jonas Brothers' iHeartPodcast "Hey Jonas!" - a surprise made especially meaningful given the two bands' long history together. The Jonas Brothers have credited Switchfoot as a foundational inspiration since their own start, and the two acts have collaborated repeatedly over the years, including a joint performance on the 20th-anniversary re-recording of Switchfoot's GRAMMY-winning album The Beautiful Letdown.
The Opry debut comes on the heels of Switchfoot's 14th studio album, Forever Now, released June 26 - the band's first new record in five years. Produced by longtime collaborator Mike Elizondo and recorded largely at his Phantom Studios outside Nashville, the 13-track album leans into a narrative-driven, guitar-forward sound centered on reflections of life's final day on Earth. Lead single "Absolution" is currently impacting Alternative radio.
Switchfoot will also launch its headlining Forever Now Tour this fall, a 38-city run joined by fellow rock act Anberlin, with stops including Los Angeles, Chicago, and Nashville.
For a band that's spent nearly three decades writing songs about hope, faith, and meaning in the middle of life's uncertainty, stepping onto the Opry stage for the first time is one more marker of a mission that's never really changed - even as the platform keeps getting bigger.
