GRAMMY-winning rock band Switchfoot makes its Grand Ole Opry debut tonight in Nashville, marking a milestone moment for a group that has spent nearly three decades rooted in the Christian music scene before crossing into the mainstream.
The invitation came as a surprise earlier this summer, delivered in an unexpected way - during an appearance on the Jonas Brothers' "Hey Jonas!" podcast, where Nick, Joe, and Kevin Jonas revealed the news to Switchfoot on air. The band, visibly caught off guard, called it a "bucket list" moment.
The Jonas Brothers have long credited Switchfoot as a formative influence on their own sound, with Nick Jonas pointing to Switchfoot's 2003 album "The Beautiful Letdown" as part of what shaped the group's early musical chemistry. The two bands have crossed paths repeatedly over the years, including a joint re-recording of "The Beautiful Letdown" title track in 2023 and a surprise onstage collaboration during the Jonas Brothers' 2025 tour.
Tonight's Opry debut follows the June 26 release of Switchfoot's fourteenth studio album, "Forever Now," a 13-track project that reflects on a person's final day on Earth - and the hope that carries beyond it. The album includes a feature from Lauren Daigle.
Switchfoot's catalog includes career-defining songs like "Dare You to Move," "Meant to Live," and "Only Hope" - tracks that have carried the band's message of faith and perseverance to audiences well beyond the Christian music space. Frontman Jon Foreman has spoken openly in the past about the band's music being an extension of his faith, not separate from it.
The band will follow tonight's Opry appearance with their headlining "Forever Now Tour" this fall, a 38-city run with special guest Anberlin.
