Kevin Sorbo is trading heroes for hard truths.
The veteran God's Not Dead and Hercules star is stepping into the gritty world of rock-and-roll fame in the upcoming faith-based drama Elijah Peel, and fans are already buzzing after the emotional trailer dropped ahead of its nationwide theatrical release on August 14.
Inspired by a remarkable true story, Elijah Peel follows a legendary rock star whose life is spiralling out of control through addiction, broken relationships and personal tragedy. Everything changes after a near-fatal heart attack and an unexpected friendship with a terminally ill nine-year-old girl whose unwavering faith challenges him to confront the life he's been trying to escape.
Sorbo portrays Elijah's longtime talent manager, a man who has watched his client's meteoric rise to fame-and his heartbreaking self-destruction-from the front row. As the singer edges closer to losing everything, Sorbo's character finds himself navigating the impossible balance between protecting a superstar and saving a friend.
The film carries an even deeper emotional weight because it is rooted in the real-life journey of writer, director and producer Kevin D. Sepe. After battling addiction and surviving multiple brushes with death, Sepe embraced sobriety and rediscovered his faith, transforming his own story of recovery into what promises to be one of this year's most inspiring Christian films.
One of the movie's biggest breakout stars is nine-year-old Evelyn Grace Kite, who portrays Jessica-the courageous young girl whose wisdom and joy become the catalyst for Elijah's transformation. The young actress is already making history after becoming the youngest-ever recipient of the International Christian Film & Music Festival's Best Lead Actress award.
The accolades don't stop there. Elijah Peel also walked away with Best Picture and Best Director honours at the 2026 International Christian Film & Music Festival, generating significant buzz months before its theatrical debut.
Adding even more star power behind the scenes, Duck Dynasty favourites Willie and Korie Robertson serve as executive producers, continuing their commitment to bringing uplifting, faith-filled stories to the big screen.
With Kevin Sorbo tackling one of his most emotionally layered roles in years, an award-winning young breakout star, and a redemption story inspired by real events, Elijah Peel is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated faith-based releases of the summer when it opens exclusively in theatres on August 14.
