Stella Parton has opened up about her late sister Dolly Parton-and her revelations go far beyond the country legend's famous makeup.

Speaking with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, Stella shared the heartbreaking final request Dolly made of her before her death: prayer. Although Dolly was privately battling cancer, Stella said the superstar did not want her fans-or even many members of her extended family-to know how sick she had become.

The sisters remained extremely close, regularly talking over coffee on Tuesday mornings. Stella said Dolly faced the end peacefully and found comfort in believing she would be reunited with her parents and her late husband, Carl Dean. Even while gravely ill, Dolly reportedly considered participating in experimental treatments if doing so might eventually help other cancer patients.

Stella also delivered one confession that left King stunned: she never saw Dolly without makeup after her sister became "Dolly Parton." In fact, the "Jolene" singer would reportedly sleep in her makeup whenever she stayed at Stella's home.

"She looked like me without her makeup," Stella joked, explaining how she could still imagine Dolly's natural appearance. The revelation confirmed that Dolly's wigs, cosmetics and rhinestones were not merely a stage costume-the glamorous persona followed her home.

However, Stella insisted that the woman beneath all that sparkle was exactly as loving and generous as the public believed. She described Dolly as sweet, brilliant, kind and endlessly creative, adding that her sister "could dream bigger than anybody."

Dolly also held strong political opinions, according to Stella, but deliberately kept them away from the public. When King tried to discover which way the country icon leaned, Stella refused to reveal her sister's private views.
