Christian singer Natalie Grant says she is fully healed months after a fall that led to internal bleeding and emergency surgery.
The 54-year-old told Fox News Digital that a recent cystoscopy, a procedure that checks the kidney and bladder, and a follow-up ultrasound both came back clear. She said a scar remains, and the most painful part of the whole ordeal turned out to be a rib she broke in the fall.
Grant tripped on a sidewalk earlier this year while walking to dinner after helping her daughter with a college move. She said she first thought she was only bruised or winded and kept walking, until she realized she was bleeding internally. At the emergency room, she learned her kidney was bleeding and she could not pass urine. Doctors warned her bladder could rupture.
She was treated for a bleeding kidney and a blood clot in her bladder and underwent emergency surgery. After the operation, she wrote "thank you Jesus" in an Instagram post and said she expected to make a full recovery.
Now, Grant wants fans to take pain seriously instead of brushing it off. She said the body gives warning signs, and that people often ignore them until it is too late. She added that she is grateful to God because the situation "could have gone 100 different directions."
Grant also paid tribute to Dolly Parton at the Dove Awards earlier this month, according to Fox News.
Are Natalie Grant and Amy Grant related? No. Despite the shared last name, the two Christian music stars are not related, according to published biographies.
