Paris Jackson has asked a Los Angeles court to order a preliminary distribution of $600 million from her father Michael Jackson's estate to the Michael Jackson Family Trust. The petition was filed on October 29 by Paris, 28.
The trust is meant to support Paris and her brothers, Prince and Bigi. The petition argues the trust remains unfunded more than 17 years after his death.
The estate disagrees. It told People that the trusts could not be fully funded until outstanding legal matters were resolved. Reports say the estate points to an ongoing IRS fight that must be settled first.
A judge has not ruled. A hearing is set for Dec. 4. This is a request in a court filing, not a ruling, and the estate has disputed the claims.
What the Bible says about inheritance
Scripture speaks to inheritance often. Proverbs 13:22 says a good person leaves an inheritance for their children's children. The Bible also describes a legacy as more than money.
Proverbs 22:1 says a good name is worth more than great riches, and Ecclesiastes 7:11 says wisdom, like an inheritance, is a good thing.
For many believers, the lesson is that what parents pass on, including faith, values and character, matters as much as what they leave in a bank account.
