One fan had flown in from Canada with three generations of her family. Another was already in a car from Laguna Beach. Then came the Instagram post from The Chicks. Their sold-out Monday, November 2, concert at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre was being moved to Wednesday because of illness. The announcement landed shortly before 7 p.m. local time, about 90 minutes before the scheduled 8:30 p.m. show.
The country trio apologised and said Monday's tickets would be honoured on Wednesday, November 4. The Dolby Theatre directed fans who couldn't make the new date to request refunds from their original seller. The group did not identify who was ill.
Some ticket holders said their sellers refused refunds because the show had been rescheduled. One fan told the band on Instagram that their group was flying out the next day and stood to lose more than $1,200 if they couldn't resell their tickets. Another said they had driven four hours, taken time off work and booked a hotel, only to learn of the postponement from a sign at the venue.
Other fans wished the band well while explaining why a two-day delay meant missing the concert altogether. The Canadian fan said she had brought her mother-in-law and 15-year-old daughter after seeing The Chicks in Vancouver in 2006. Their flight home was scheduled before the makeup show.
Wednesday's makeup show is scheduled to close the Taking the Long Way 20th Anniversary Tour, which celebrates the trio's Grammy-winning 2006 album and its signature single, "Not Ready to Make Nice."
