Britney Spears Gives Up on God After Her Disappointments with Her Family
Pop music's songstress Britney Spears has announced that she no longer believes in God. After Spears had to endure nearly 14 years under a conservatorship, where her father that controlled almost every aspect of her life, she spoke about losing her faith in a voice memo shared Monday on Instagram.
"God would not allow that to happen to me if a God existed," she said, according to Page Six, which transcribed the audio before it was deleted. "I don't believe in God anymore because of the way my children and my family have treated me. There is nothing to believe in anymore. I'm an atheist, y'all."
Spears also expressed her disappointment in her two sons: Jayden who is 16 this month, and his older brother, Sean Preston, who turns 17.The two teens declined to attend their mother's wedding to Sam Asghari in June. Jayden said he and his brother no longer spend time with their mom but hope to reconnect when she gets "better mentally."
She said of one of her sons, "So Jayden, as you undermine my behavior, just like my whole family always has, with `hope she gets better,' `I will pray for her'... Pray for what? [That] I keep working so I can pay off mom's legal fees and her house? Do you guys want me to get better so I can continue to give your dad $40 grand a month? Or is the reasoning behind you guys deciding to be hateful is because it's actually over in two years and you don't get anything?
"It saddens me not one of you have valued me as a person. You've witnessed how my family has been to me, and that's all you know. Like I said, I feel you all secretly like to say something's wrong with me."
Spears has also repeatedly accused her mother and sister of failing to protect and help her.
