New industry data reveals that Bible sales in the United States and the United Kingdom have more than doubled since 2019, indicating a renewed and sustained interest in Scripture among readers on both sides of the Atlantic.

According to recent figures compiled by major publishing trackers, the United Kingdom saw Bible sales surge by 106% from 2019 to 2025, reaching an all-time high of £6.3 million in annual revenue. The year-over-year growth from 2024 to 2025 alone was 27.7%, with the English Standard Version (ESV) among the most purchased translations.

Similarly, Bible sales in the United States hit a 21-year high in 2025, with approximately 19 million units sold, representing more than double the sales volume recorded in 2019, according to industry analyst data from Circana BookScan. In 2025, The Invitation New Testament published by B&H was the bestselling adult Bible in the U.S. market.

Publishing leaders and analysts point to several factors behind this upward trend, including increased interest among younger readers, a broader cultural search for meaning, and a desire for spiritual resources that offer comfort and stability in uncertain times.

"The significant and sustained upward trend in Bible sales suggests that more and more people are investigating the Christian faith themselves and seeking to draw their own conclusions about its truth," said Sam Richardson, CEO of the Society for Promoting Christian Knowledge (SPCK) in the U.K. "This appears to be part of a wider cultural engagement with spiritual questions."

Industry observers note that Bible sales have outpaced growth in the overall print book market, with demand for Scripture remaining strong even as general book sales have experienced more modest increases in recent years.

This sustained rise in Bible purchases highlights a noteworthy trend in contemporary reading habits and suggests that, amid global social and cultural shifts, many individuals continue to turn to sacred texts for guidance, reflection, and hope.
